This text refers to the Passage in the Senate.
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes same-sex marriages beginning October 1, 2011.
-Authorizes an official of a religious institution to decline solemnizing any marriage by the right to free exercise of religion (Sec. 2). -Authorizes an organization with religious affiliations to decline providing its services to an individual if the request is related to the solemnization or promotion of a marriage that is in violation of the entity's religious beliefs (Sec. 3). -Authorizes a fraternal benefit society with religious affiliations to decline admitting an individual as a member or providing insurance benefits to an individual if to do so would violate the society's religious beliefs (Sec. 4).
